dc.description.abstractThe dynamic behaviour of a single cylinder in regular waves can be complex. Nonlinear phenomena, including subharmonics, chaos and boundary crises, are found in the numerical simulations of such systems, if the motion-dependent wave force effect of the cylinder is included. The implications of these phenomena to nonlinear dynamic analyses of compliant offshore structures are discussed.
