ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This paper arises from our earlier flow visualization study of an elliptical jet in a cross flow which showed regular and coherent paring of leading-edge vortices when the elliptical jets are orientated with their major-axes parallel to the cross flow. To obtain a deeper insight into this pairing process, particle image velocimetry technique was used to obtain the instantaneous velocity and vorticity fields.
