A novel cross-circle-plate with square top monopole antenna is proposed for the ultra-wideband(UWB) operations. The prototype of the antenna has been constructed and an impedance bandwidth from 2.8GHz to 13GHz has been obtained. Relatively good agreement between the measured and simulated return loss are obtained. The measured radiation patterns, which closely resemble the radiation pattern of a monopole, are also given in the paper. © 2007 IEEE.
