Abstract: In this work, we have investigated the temperature dependence and effect of seed layer thickness on the exchange bias of a Ni80 Fe20 (ts) Fe50 Mn50 (20 nm) Ni80 Fe20 (20 nm) trilayer, with ts varied systematically from 5 to 50 nm. Room temperature hysteresis loops show that variation in ts strongly affects the exchange bias of both the seed and top Ni80 Fe20 layers. Magnetotransport measurements were used to determine the temperature dependence of the overall exchange field (HE) and coercivity (HC) as a function of seed layer thickness. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.
