An analytical formulation of the outage probability in terms of bit error rate specification for video multiclass services in a multi-code direct-sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) system is presented. The analytical framework is formulated for the general case in which different traffic classes have different varying video bit rates. The video model used in this paper accounts for scene changes. In the model, each video source is modeled by a two-dimensional Markov chain. Multiple spreading codes are used by each user to achieve the varying video bit rate. The analytical work leads to the determination of the system capacity admission region of a multi-code DS-UWB system supporting video services. Numerical results of the admission regions are also presented. © 2005 IEEE.
