ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1049/cp.2010.1209 | Abstract: | The performance of long-haul coherent optical transmission systems is partly limited by following factors: one is the beat noise between the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noises and local oscillator; and another one is the nonlinear phase noise caused by the interaction between a signal and ASE noise under Kerr effects. We analytically investigate the impact of these two factors on coherent binary phase-shift-keying and quadrature phase-shift-keying systems. The impact of laser phase noise is also addressed. Under a fixed total length and span length, optimal received power is found. | Source Title: | IET Conference Publications | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/70532 | ISBN: | 9781849193146 | DOI: | 10.1049/cp.2010.1209 |
