Abstract: We present a comparative study of the magnetization reversal process in rectangular and elliptical ferromagnetic ring structures using various contact configurations. We observed that the magnetic and transport properties are strongly dependent on the ring shape and contact geometry. Magnetoresistance measurements in combination with micromagnetic simulations have been used to understand the magnetization reversal mechanism in both the ring geometries. © 2008 American Institute of Physics.
