Abstract: This paper presents the analysis and design of an active clamped zero-voltage switching (ZVS) current-fed isolated DC-DC converter for fuel cells to utility interface application. The auxiliary active clamping circuit absorbs the turn-off voltage spike and also assists in achieving ZVS of main switches. The auxiliary switches also operate under ZVS. This converter is able to maintain ZVS for wide variation in fuel cell stack voltage. Analytical, simulation and experimental results to evaluate the performance of the converter are presented. ©2007 IEEE.
