dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a novel synchronization scheme that base on Baker Codes autocorrelation property for UWB impulse radio system. Simple threshold detection circuit is used to perform early quantization. An asynchronous pulse capture block is introduced to perform a direct down conversion of the UWB pulses from RF band to baseband. The new scheme provides run time synchronization tracking and resynchronization capability. The receiver architecture including threshold detector, pulse capture block and baseband synchronization circuitries are implemented in standard CMOS 0.35μm process. Measurement results confirms that high speed toggle flip-flop in the pulse capture block successfully capture narrow pulses down to a resolution of 200ps. The post layout simulated power consumption of the proposed receiver architecture is 1.9mW at a data rate of 2Mb/s. © 2009 IEEE.
