This paper presents a theoretical and numerical study of the thermal effect of the jet flow rate of cooling in machining. The commonly used overhead jet cooling and flank jet cooling methods are considered. Mathematical models are developed for the heat transfer coefficients in the cooling processes, and a numerical simulation method is developed to investigate the effect of the flow rate on machining temperatures. The results show that an increase in the coolant jet flow rate results in an increase in the cooling heat transfer coefficient and the temperature reduction.
