Abstract: It was necessary to carry out subsoil investigation at Irian Jaya, a remote part of Indonesia for the purpose of selecting suitable locations for construction. The Dutch cone penetration test was found to be useful in the reliable determination of the soil profile and in the choice of suitable sites for structural foundations. -from Authors
