An experimental investigation was carried out to study the ultimate load behavior of ferrocement in which the member thickness was systematically varied for an equal volume fraction of reinforcement; the reinforcement being furnished by either welded or woven wire mesh. The results of these tests are presented and discussed in this paper. Based on experimental observation of the behavior at ultimate load and a comparison with the available test data, the familiar 'rigid-plastic' concept has been justified for ultimate strength analysis of ferrocement. Design charts are presented for typical ferrocement section.
