dc.description.abstract | An experimental investigation was carried out on sandwich wall panels consisting of lightweight polystyrene as the core and ferrocement as the facing materials. The major parameters of the study were the amount and dispersion of reinforcement, and the method of shear transfer between the facings. Tests were conducted on facing elements in direct tension, and on both elements and sandwich panels in pure bending to study their cracking behaviour and ultimate strength. Shrinkage and durability tests were also carried out to evaluate the long-term performance of the wall panels. The results of these tests are presented and discussed. | |
