|Title:||Design of least weight cold-formed steel sections||Authors:||Thevendran, V.
|Issue Date:||1986||Citation:||Thevendran, V.,Shanmugan, N.E. (1986). Design of least weight cold-formed steel sections. Journal of Constructional Steel Research 6 (1) : 53-68. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||This paper deals with the minimum weight design of cold-formed hat-shaped steel sections in accordance with the AISI (1968) specifications. The minimization is carried out using a direct search method. The results of the study are given in the form of sectional dimensions and minimum weights. Results are compared in terms of different design considerations: different applied loadings, different span conditions (single, two-equal-span continuous and three-equal-span continuous), different span lengths, and sections with or without intermediate stiffeners. © 1986.||Source Title:||Journal of Constructional Steel Research||URI:||http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/65403||ISSN:||0143974X|
