Title: | Box-column to I-beam connections with external stiffeners | Authors: | Ting, L.C. Shanmugam, N.E. Lee, S.L. |
Issue Date: | 1991 | Citation: | Ting, L.C.,Shanmugam, N.E.,Lee, S.L. (1991). Box-column to I-beam connections with external stiffeners. Journal of Constructional Steel Research 18 (3) : 209-226. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This paper presents the results of the analyses, using the finite element method, to study the behaviour of externally stiffened box-column to I-beam connections. Joints with different types of stiffener, viz. triangular plate stiffeners, angle stiffeners and T-stiffeners have been studied. Redistribution of stresses and improvement of stiffness (moment-rotation characteristics) are the two important factors considered in the study, and the results indicate that T-stiffeners are the most efficient form in these respects. Connections of different configurations have also been studied. © 1991. | Source Title: | Journal of Constructional Steel Research | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/65248 | ISSN: | 0143974X |
