Frame-core wall tall buildings are modelled as shear-flexure cantilevers. The effect of axial deformation in frames is considered in the formulation of the governing equations. The Bubnov-Galerkin method of weighted residuals is used to transform the coupled differential equations to a set of algebraic equations which can be readily solved. Several types of shape functions of admissible class are used to span the displacement field. Application to non-uniform buildings is discussed. The method is simple, efficient and can be easily implemented on any personal computer. © 1989.
