The paper describes an experimental and theoretical study of the behaviour of multi-cell structures curved in plan. A technique adopted to make perspex models of multi-cell box girders that are curved in plan is briefly described. The results of eight tests on two perspex models of different span/radius ratios subjected to different loading conditions are presented. The experimental results are compared with theoretical values obtained by employing the finite element method and good agreement between the results can be observed. © 1991.
