Abstract: In this paper, we first discuss some problems encountered in traditional load-testing data analysis by an illustration. Then a three parameter Weibull distribution model with load-dependent location and scale parameters is proposed to model the relationships between reliability, load and life of components. Using this model, all data can be analyzed together, the total number of parameters to be estimated is reduced greatly, and the results are more suitable for practical use. In particular, the R-L-N equations and strength distribution, which are different from those obtained using conventional methods, can be derived directly. © 1993.
