This paper compares the P. Chowdhuri-E. T. B. Gross and S. Rusck models for the calculation of induced voltages on overhead lines by nearby lightning strokes. The Monte-Carlo technique was applied to both models and results of induced-voltage flash over rates of transmission lines of various configurations and insulation levels are presented.
