Abstract: This paper presents object-oriented simulation of the rapid transit system. With the object-oriented technique, each object in the simulation model has the attributes, operations, and structures of its counterpart in the real world. This will resolve the complexity in the knowledge representation of the rapid transit system. To simulate continuous train movements under discrete train movement orders, expert system based event objects are implemented. Normally, simulation is used to aid the design of the rapid transit system. As the object-oriented technique provides reusability, extendibility, and high efficiency for future development, simulation cost and developmental cost for future designs are reduced tremendously.
