Abstract: A genetic-based algorithm is proposed to solve the multiobjective global optimisation problem of longitudinal interconnected power system, which incorporates various constraints during the optimisation of dispatch solution with two objectives in mind: economic and environmental. Its effectiveness is verified through a three-area test system with multiple fuels and multiple pollutants. Consequently, the results of the sample system are analysed to demonstrate the internal relationships among various constraints and objectives. © IEE, 1996.
