Abstract: The use of streamline visualization for presenting the two-dimensional steady energy flow patterns in acoustic intensity fields was discussed. The determination of structural intensity fields for the rectangular plate with or without slots by the finite element method was also discussed. The streamlines were used in the analysis and understanding of complex energy flow shapes, especially suitable for showing the vortex and energy dissipation by structural damping. It was concluded that streamlines provided a better means of visualizing the dominant power flow paths.
