Issue Date: | 1-Mar-2004 | Citation: | Tan, E.P.S., Lim, C.T. (2004-03-01). Physical properties of a single polymeric nanofiber. Applied Physics Letters 84 (9) : 1603-1605. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1651643 | Abstract: | The atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique was used for investigating the nanostructural and elastic properties of a single polymeric nanofiber. A 'shish-kebab' like structure was revealed by the AFM imaging of the nanofibers. To obtain the elastic modulus, a three-point nanoscale bend test was performed. The results show that the elastic modulus is 1.0±0.2 GPa for fibers less than 350 mm but decreases with increase in fiber diameter in excess of 350 nm. | Source Title: | Applied Physics Letters | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/61107 | ISSN: | 00036951 | DOI: | 10.1063/1.1651643 |
