Abstract: Phase-shift digital speckle shear interferometry (DSSI) can be used to detect the presence of defects, in the form of localized thinning, in a plate structure. Digital shearography, which enables the estimation of the remaining thickness at the defective region, is presented. The method may find applications in quantitative nondestructive testing, particularly in structural life management.
