Abstract: The development of a hybrid finite element-holography-influence coefficient method is presented. The hybrid method models the boundary conditions of structures as a combination of translational and torsional springs, thereby avoiding the assumption of infinite rigidity. Several tests, based on holography interferometry and the influence coefficient method, are carried out on plates and beams under different restrained conditions. More accurate and satisfactory results are obtained from this hybrid method than from conventional methods for vibration analysis of real-life structures. © 1989.
