A study was conducted on the effect of resistive lightning protection terminals in mitigating the lightning return stroke current. The investigation was performed on the recently developed R-L-C circuit model which allows resistive lightning protection terminals to be represented easily as circuit elements. The results show that the peak of the return stroke current was significantly reduced, thus demonstrating efficacy of the resistive lightning protection terminal and the utility of the R-L-C circuit model in such studies. © 2005 IEEE.
