The effects of different degree of three-dimensional order (DTDO) and Fe impurity on the photoluminescence (PL) of boron nitride (BN) were discussed. For the experiment, samples of a-BN were prepared by mechanical milling of crystalline h-BN power under Ar atmosphere for 30 h using stainless balls and vial. It was observed that the intensity and energy of the PL bands changed greatly with DTDO and could be tuned by varing the annealing temperature. It was suggested that the maximum intensity of PL bands at 593 and 612 nm is about 1000 times that of h-BN.
