Abstract: A novel carbon nanoparticles based nonlinear optical liquid were fabricated using laser-ablation-in-solution method. The morphology of the carbon nanoparticles obtained was studied with a TEM by depositing and drying solution on copper grids. Nonlinear optical limiting properties of the samples were determined with Gaussian pulses from a Nd:YAG laser. The results suggest that the stabilization is due to polymerization of tetrahydrofuran on the carbon nanoparticle surfaces.
