dc.description.abstractA generalised transform scheme for arbitrarily shaped image segments for the purpose of image compression is presented. The main feature of the scheme is an adaptive coefficient grouping method used in the second stage of the DCT. Experimental results show that this transform scheme performs better in terms of transform efficiency and maximum reducible bits than the methods proposed in [2] for all the image models used.
