Abstract: In this paper we apply demand systems specification to estimate Singapore's import demand function, and use the homogeneity restriction to yield efficient consistent estimators in the presence of simultaneity bias as well as measurement errors and omitted variables. We find that the above methodology yields significantly better estimates than that of the traditional log-linear model.
