Some of the complementary initiatives such as expertise development and component reuse in two different phases to solve the problems between engineers and management in an industry are discussed. Engineers were granted high degree of autonomy in developing solutions that were customized to each client's requirements in the phase one. The engineers were motivated by their desire to reinforce and gain accreditation for their mastery by demonstrating their knowledge through mentoring others. The engineers were also inspired to share knowledge to extend their participation in the innovation process. Suppliers of complex products should adopt improved development methodologies to improve the rate of component reuse. Such companies, by designing components for reuse, may even further integrate the process through which knowledge is created with the process through which this knowledge is shared and reused.
