Abstract: The development of Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi)-based infrastructure for context-aware applications is discussed. OSGi is an emergent open architecture that enables the deployment of a large array of wide-area-network services to local networks such as smart homes and automobiles. OSGi defines a lightweight framework for delivering and executing service-oriented applications. OSGi open standard can provide a robust and potentially interoperable infrastructure for building, provisioning, and managing context-aware services in smart homes and beyond.
