Abstract: With the wide adoption of XML, the goal for XML has been expanded far beyond data representation and exchange over the Internet. However, XML is not an expressive language for information modeling. In this paper, we describe what is needed for an information modeling language. Then we discuss how to extend XML to make it suitable for information modeling. © Springer-Verlag 004.
