She had minimal weight loss and no family history of cancer. Investigations: Physical examination, conventional esophagogastroduodenoscopy, CT, fluorodeoxyglucose-PET, endoscopic ultrasonography, and histopathologic examination of excised tumor and biopsy specimens. Diagnosis: Primary malignant esophageal melanoma with submucosal infiltration but no distant metastasis.
