Abstract: Facility Managers (FMs) has been increasingly recognised by the built environment sector due to the growing demand for new buildings and infrastructure in Singapore. As facility management becomes more integrated into core operational functions, there is a need to emphasise Human Resource Management (HRM) for FMs to ensure job satisfaction and the delivery of positive work outcomes. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of HRM practices of organizations on the work outcome and job satisfaction of FMs. The specific objectives are to (a) identify FMs' HRM-related satisfaction levels, (b) identify the HRM practices desired by FMs in Singapore, (c) investigate the HRM practices adopted by firms that hire FMs, (d) examine the association between FMs' HRM-related satisfaction and work outcomes, as well as HRM practices adopted and (e) recommend HRM practices that boost job satisfaction and work outcomes of FMs. Following a comprehensive literature review, a structured questionnaire was formulated. The questionnaire comprised 13 HRM satisfaction variables, 4 work outcome indicators, and 14 HRM practices adopted by firms that hire FMs. The data was collected through LinkedIn and subsequently analysed using IBM SPSS software. The research findings indicate that FMs express significant satisfaction with 9 out of the 13 HRM practices implemented in their firms. They express desire for their organizations to adopt all the 11 HRM practices identified in the questionnaire. Moreover, they agreed to a significant extent that 8 out of the 14 HRM practices outlined in the questionnaire are being adopted by their organizations. Furthermore, various FMs' HRM-related satisfaction variables such as satisfaction with salary (Y1D11), satisfaction with total compensation package (Y1D14), satisfaction with performance appraisal process (Y1D18) exhibit significant correlations with FMs' work outcomes as well as the HRM practices adopted by organizations.
