Abstract: This study assesses the performance of a newly installed Variable Air Volume (VAV) system in lecture theatres LT423 and LT424 within the SDE3 building, with a focus on its compliance with industry standards outlined in SS554:2016 and its impact on indoor environmental quality. The VAV system demonstrated its ability to meet the prescribed industry standards and create a comfortable learning environment. However, it was observed that even though the system's parameters aligned with the guidelines, there remained room for improvement in indoor air quality conditions, particularly in accommodating larger class sizes. Notably, LT423 exhibited somewhat warmer conditions than the desired comfort level. Consequently, this study highlights the importance of considering subjective assessments alongside objective benchmarks in evaluating occupants' thermal comfort, particularly in the context of a recently renovated building like SDE3. Greater emphasis on capturing occupants' needs and preferences is crucial for enhancing the overall comfort and satisfaction of building occupants.
