Title: | ENABLING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT INDUSTRY IN SINGAPORE TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABILITY TARGETS USING GREEN MARK 2021 | Authors: | SO ZHI HUI AILEEN | Issue Date: | 2023 | Citation: | SO ZHI HUI AILEEN (2023). ENABLING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT INDUSTRY IN SINGAPORE TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABILITY TARGETS USING GREEN MARK 2021. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | In a given year, the proportion of new building constructions in Singapore relative to the total number of buildings remains minimal, typically falling below 5%. Therefore, it is evident that addressing the issue of new constructions alone will not be sufficient for Singapore to meet its 2030 goals. Despite governmental efforts aimed at reducing emissions, the current rate of progress might not be adequate to attain the sustainability objectives set by the country. The primary objective of this dissertation is to investigate the carbon emissions from both newly constructed and existing buildings over the course of a year. The study employs various analytical methods, including the assessment of interquartile range and trendline analysis, to discern the correlation among different factors influencing emissions. By examining these factors comprehensively, this research aims to uncover valuable insights. These findings can then be utilized to inform building owners and policymakers, enabling them to devise effective strategies and policies. Ultimately, this knowledge can encourage building owners to pursue green certification in Singapore, thereby contributing significantly to the nation's sustainability effort. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/247034 |
