Abstract: A series of zeolite nanosheets with different compositions using template methods are synthesized. Catalytic active PtSn species are loaded onto/into the ultrathin zeolite (2 nm per layer) through in-situ hydrothermal synthesis. Catalysts are tested under high WHSV for propane dehydrogenation reaction. Various characterization technics are applied to further understand the structure/composition details of the catalysts. ICP and UV/Vis results indicate that the reported Pt-Sn chloride complexes may have completely decomposed during the hydrothermal process, and Sn is highly likely to enter the zeolite framework. CO-DRIFTS and STEM results for the reduced sample, on the other hand, provide evidence of the formation of subnanometric Pt-rich Pt3Sn alloy clusters. Zeolite with ultra-low Pt loading and robust activity in terms of per gram Pt is successfully synthesized.
