Abstract: Renewable energy sources such as solar energy, hydropower and wind are anticipated to become our primary energy sources in the future. However, the intermittent and unpredictable nature of renewables has spurred significant advancements in the field of energy storage and conversion technologies. Among these emerging technologies, metal-air batteries have gained considerable attention, particularly iron-air batteries, which show great promise due to their economical, high-energy density, and eco-friendly. However, traditional iron-air batteries encounter specific obstacles that hinder their widespread commercial adoption. The main object of this thesis work is to integrate iron-air batteries with redox targeting processes, culminating in the creation of innovative redox targeting-based iron-air flow batteries. These innovations, with their potential to effectively overcome the obstacles confronting traditional iron-air batteries, hold great promise in the fields of energy storage and conversion.
