Abstract: The proposed fashion laboratory is a centre for young fashion designers at Selegie Road. It provides young designers with workspaces, research facilities and places to showcase their designs. With the close proximity to the fashion design schools, the centre provides opportunities for closer ties between the school and the industry itself, acting as a focal point in the fashion industry. The thesis deals the reality of fashion design, focuses on the work process and the possible synergy between designers in this shared environment. The architecture exploration is to address to secrecy issue of fashion design when designers are being put together. The building aims to negotiate between the dilemma of the need to share facilities and the desire for privacy. The project looks at the possibility of creating a condition where designers can work in solitude and be immerse in fashion related activates when they want to. This condition provides opportunities for interaction, which was not possible before, to happen.
