Abstract: This study aims to contribute to the existing literature on the impact of foreign teachers on student outcomes, focusing on non-academic outcomes. Current literature has documented differing effects of teacher diversity on both academic and non-academic outcomes. However, significantly lesser attention has been paid to the potential effects of teacher diversity on non-academic outcomes, such as motivation, levels of responsibility and student’s perceptions, despite being equally as important to an individual. The present study seeks to fill this gap by examining the impact of having a foreign teacher on students' non-academic outcomes using a large, nationally representative dataset. The study found that foreign teachers, in general, had negative effects on these outcomes. Furthermore, heterogeneity analyses revealed several key findings, and the paper investigates a potential causal explanation for the observed negative impact of foreign teachers on their students' non-academic outcomes.
