Medical histology is one of the introductory science courses for medical students. Traditionally this study of cells and tissues was done by microscopes and slides. Technology has dramatically helped histology teaching as universities teach this microanatomy model using various tools like computer-based technologies, including virtual microscopy and slides. Nevertheless, the limited availability of resources and time has significantly impacted the student who wishes to revisit the slides. Hence, a student-friendly approach is needed to make learning enjoyable. Here, we developed a more advanced digital tool to study histology anywhere without a sophisticated laboratory setting. We created a dedicated webpage, integrating the histology images and relevant teaching materials under NUS Anatomy, the NUS - HALO (Human Anatomy Learning resOurce). The webpage carries state-of-the-art high-resolution histology images that look real. The pictures are arranged systematically for easy reference. Further, we incorporated relevant teaching materials associated with the slides to enhance learning. A detailed description accompanies each slide to highlight important histological landmarks. The slides also include clinical relevance to help the students orient and understand the histological slide. The user-friendliness of this webpage is well-received by the students and the entire medical community. In conclusion, this e-resource will reshape traditional microscope-based teaching with a modern digitized histology learning platform. In the future, the digital media of histology learning can be extended to other medical subjects.
