In this study, we have developed a photosensitizer that can be used as a photo-activated disinfectant. We have used Ferrous Protoporphyrin IX (FePPY9) which is a photosensitizer that can absorb visible light and shift to higher energy which will produce cytotoxic electrons and radicals when dropping back to a lower energy state.The enhanced antibacterial activity portrayed by FePPY9 is investigated using model organism, Escherichia coli, a Gram-negative bacteria. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/235005 |
