Abstract: Parks and greenery have been essential components in the physical transformation of modern Singapore. In the highly built-up environment, parks serve as communal spaces for different social groups and activities, providing opportunities for both community development and recreation. This study attempts to understand the general public's park usage pattern and to provide an indication ofimportance and satisfaction level with parks in Singapore, in relation to the park attributes. Ultimately, the study is to explore ways to increase the park usage levels. After a statistical analysis of a survey of 300 park users, it was found that people in Singapore are relatively active in using the park to carry out their recreational activities. Physical fitness is found to be essential to most park users. In addition, family and friends are also important to them. It is therefore necessary to have the necessary facilities and amenities in the park so as to facilitate the fostering of relationship. Furthermore, the study shows that park users are not very satisfied with some of the park attributes such as "landscaping", "area for ball games" and "carpark". Hence, in order to attract more people to visit the park, it is critical to improve the overall satisfaction level of these park attributes.
