Abstract: The State of Kedah has been reported in the Census 2000 with a low urbanization level of 39.3%. With its strategic location in the heart of the Northern Growth Triangle Development Project or the Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), many joint-ventures among these three countries have been formed. Among these jointventure businesses found in Kedah, the industrial and tourism sectors are on the top list. With the boom in its industrial and tourism sectors, residential and hotel developments will have positive outlooks. Based on analysis on past transactions and incoming supply of residential and hotel sectors, potential development areas for residential and hotel sectors have been singled out. Detailed information on Kedah's economy, its people, culture and an overview on its real estate market will be presented as well to give the developers better understanding of the state.
