Issue Date: | 2022 | Citation: | BRENDA YAP MING WEI (2022). INTEGRATION OF BIM AND IOT IN POST-COVID FACILITY MANAGEMENT. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | In 2019, the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease (COVID) and its rapid spread across the globe placed the world in a turmoil and its impact covered the economic, political, and social sectors. Singapore introduced Circuit Breaker (CB) measures that aims to limit the spread of COVID and reduce the transmission of it and after 2 years of struggle in the containing of the spread, Singapore has finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Transiting into a post-COVID society, where normal operations can proceed, the Building Construction Authority (BCA) released guidance note that includes regulations and measures to be complied with for indoor air-conditioned buildings for facility managers to refer to. With the aid of the advancement in technologies such as the Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), facility managers can easily draft plans and measure for the monitoring and maintenance of the facility for its smooth operation. This research paper aims to propose a framework for the ease of monitoring and maintenance of facilities in post-COVID FM. The research set forth to review the guidelines and standards for the identification of information requirements and identify the stakeholders responsible for the provision of such information. The information requirements identified will enlighten the direction in which the utilization of technologies should be. Extensions for the IFC schema will be proposed based on the information requirements that will serve as a tool for the facility manager to make concise and accurate decision calls for the operation and maintenance of the facility. This research paper proposes a framework from the derived information requirements for facility managers to act in accordance with the measures recommended in the BCA guidance note. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/226594 |
