Abstract: Two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites (2D RPPs) have emerged as a promising luminescence emitter. To better understand the PL mechanism and optical properties of 2D RPPs, we chose (BA)2PbBr4 (BA refers to butylamine) as the research object and conducted three related projects. Firstly, temperature-dependent PL technologies were applied to unveil the intrinsic exciton transition and recombination processes in (BA)2PbBr4 single crystal with singlet/triplet exciton fine structure. Secondly, we systematically studied the role of defect state on exciton harvest and recombination in polycrystalline thin-film counterparts. Lastly, we explored the origin of dual blue emission of (BA)2PbBr4 single crystal collected from a commercial fluorescence spectrometer and emphasized the importance of photon recycling effect. Our work aims to shed light on the intrinsic emission mechanism of 2D RPPs, and we believe it would help establish a more profound insight into this kind of promising semiconductors.
