Title: | RESIDENTIAL LAND OPTIMIZATION FOR SINGAPORE’S INCREASING POPULATION | Authors: | YEO HUI YAN HESTER | Issue Date: | 20-Apr-2022 | Citation: | YEO HUI YAN HESTER (2022-04-20). RESIDENTIAL LAND OPTIMIZATION FOR SINGAPORE’S INCREASING POPULATION. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Despite extensive research on finding how different demographics, such as, age, income and education contributed to the projected demand and how this projected demand could or could not potentially be aligned with the projected supply, there were a lack of information available on the internet. There were available studies on how change in income level affects the change of dwelling unit residents live in. However, there were no projections done into the future years and those studies were only made annually where data on certain years are disregarded. This study hopes to provide a year-on-year projection using past years to create a more holistic and comprehensive view on the research topic. This thesis aims to show whether forecasted supply in the future can meet with the changing demand depending on variables such as, 1) age, 2) income, and 3) highest qualification attained. The projections will go up to 20 years’ time, into year 2041. Individual charts will be provided on how each independent variable affects the alignment of housing supply and demand. Qualitative and quantitative research are both utilized in this research. Quantitative research will first be started off with Arima model and will be contextualized further with the usage of survey results. Thereafter, a thorough analysis and various recommendations arising from the research done will be proposed to further maximize proper and efficient land use. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/224346 |
