Abstract: The research is an attempt to understand the ability of urban planning in accommodating industrial symbiosis in Delhi. The growth of Delhi has led to various industrial areas which do not comply with standards of practice and cause environmental degradation. Using the methods of industrial symbiosis as a means of achieving better planning for industries, the study examines the gaps that need to be filled. The research explores the concepts of industrial symbiosis and its relevance to urban planning in the context of Delhi. The various issues faced during the planning process for industries in Delhi were also explored. Based on this study, industrial development was explored through 3 case examples to understand the flow of materials and processes. The learnings gathered from these cases along with the theory were used to give recommendations to the planning of the city.
