Abstract: This dissertation proposes that a new condition of practice and reception of architecture is in the making. Under the rubric of Post Architecture, it argues for the repositioning of the architect in relation to the society, de-emphasizing the heroic attribute of the profession. It postulates the need to shift from closed to open, exquisite to ordinary and timeless to ever-changing. Stemming from the above discursive developments, architectural production today is much more influenced by the society than any singular architect. The emphasis therefore should not be on the design of self substantial object but the design of parts in a larger context, subjected to change and social revaluation.
